Police: Thousands Worth of Stolen Tools Found at Maine Home

Several thousand dollars worth of tools were reported stolen in Maine in January, and now, according to the Kennebec Journal, police have a suspect in custody.

The Kennebec Journal is reporting that the Pittsfield Police Department, along with help from the Somerset County Sheriff's Office and the Maine State Police, have been investigating the alleged theft.

That investigation of the stolen tools from Pittsfield came to a head on Sunday afternoon when officials say they discovered the stolen items at a home in St. Albans, Maine.

The Kennebec Journal reports that 55-year-old Richard Tripp was arrested at the St. Albans home on several outstanding warrants. Officials say that those warrants are unrelated to the alleged theft of the tools.

However, police also had a search warrant which allowed them to search the St. Albans property, and that's when they allegedly discovered the stolen tools, according to the newspaper.

Police say that the search of the St. Albans mobile home turned up several contractor tools that had been reported missing, the newspaper reported.

Pittsfield Police Chief Vincent Morris told the KJ that the department is now working on returning the stolen items to their rightful owners. Police say that the items were found at the mobile home which is located at 13 Gould Lane in St. Albans, Maine.

Police also went on to say, according to the Kennebec Journal, that while Tripp was initially taken into custody on his outstanding warrants, more charges are likely forthcoming related to the alleged theft of the tools.
