Comedian Tig Notaro is coming to the Waterville Opera House on Saturday, March 9, as part of her "Hello Again" tour.

Notaro's album Live was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album. Her special Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special, and her album of the same name was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album.

I first heard of Tig Notaro when she became a cast member on Star Trek Discovery , laying engineer Jett Reno on the U.S.S. Discovery. Star Trek isn't typically played for laughs, except in the movie Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, but when you hire someone like Notaro, how can you not expect her humor to come out?

Her deadpan comedy style is exactly what she brought to her role on Star Trek, and after learning she was a comedian and an actor, I had to look her up on YouTube.

I had my doubts at first about her being on my second favorite movie and TV franchise next to the other "Star" franchise that talks all about The Force, the Sith, and some slug-like guy named Jabba the Hut.

After watching some of her standup, I can honestly say she was the right person for the job, and I'm hoping she is included in the final season of Star Trek Discovery in early 2024.

Notaro and her deadpan humor are coming to Maine at the Waterville Opera House on Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available on the Waterville Opera House website.
