Maine’s outdoor mini golf season is just about to get underway.

Soon enough, putters will be out and ready for thousands of rounds of pure fun.

The state is full of wonderful courses, featuring all kinds of themes, from dinosaurs to pirates.

However, one of the most entertaining has to be a relatively new course known as the “Maine Gateway,” which has just announced its opening date.

When Does Martel's Ice Cream and Mini Golf Open for the Season?

Martel's, the popular mini golf course on Route 1 in Saco is home to this very unique attraction. It’s the second track at the complex, which also features a high-quality course and its famous homemade ice cream.

The “Maine Gateway” course has a rich Pine Tree State theme, showcasing as much of Maine’s natural beauty as possible. It’s a tremendously original and fun experience. While other courses may include touches of Maine-inspired elements, a fully themed “Maine” course is sure to be a major draw.

The Maine Vibes are Strong at Martel's Ice Cream and Mini Golf

Believe me when I say the theme comes through very strongly. There’s a lighthouse hole, a shipwreck, a pelican, wilderness scenes, a lobster hole, and even a giant black bear. This course truly screams Maine. It’s an absolute travesty that I haven’t made it out there yet, especially considering how much I love Maine and mini golf.

Just like the “Maine Gateway,” the original “Serenity Falls” course will also be opening for the season on April 16. Pricing and hours can be found on Martel’s website. I think I’m ready for a 36-hole challenge, with some ice cream to go along with it.
