A young man from Central Maine is in some serious trouble after a wild chase in Clinton Tuesday night that involved two kids.

According to an article on the WABI website, police say 21-year-old Jamez Leggett was spotted with two children under the age of 16 who had already been reported missing.

When officers tried to stop him, he took off.  According to investigators, Leggett drove around police and hit high speeds to get away.

Officers say they stopped chasing him once he pushed his speed past one hundred miles per hour and started swerving across lanes.  Not long after that, they found the vehicle after it crashed through a guardrail and slammed into some construction equipment in Benton.

Leggett was eventually found in Winslow.  He was taken to the hospital first and then brought to the Kennebec County Jail.

Police say he is now facing a list of charges including eluding an officer, driving to endanger, criminal mischief and criminal speed.

*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law

As we understand it, the kids are alright.
