
Maine State Police Investigating Death of Man in Central Maine
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, the Maine State Police are investigaitng the death of a man found along the side of a road in Fairfield.
The press release explains that the Fairfield Police were called out early Saturday morning after a man was found unresponsive along Martin Stream Road.
According to police, a 911 call came in just before 9 PM on Saturday, January 24, reporting a male on the side of the road who was not breathing. Officers arrived and determined the man was deceased. At that point, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central was called in to assist.
State Police detectives and evidence technicians spent much of the day on scene, interviewing possible witnesses and collecting evidence as part of the investigation.
The man has since been identified as 46-year-old Jason Grant of Oakland. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted in the coming days to determine an official cause and manner of death.
Investigators are now asking for the public’s help. Anyone who was in the area of Martin Stream Road in Fairfield, or in the Fairfield and Norridgewock area late Friday night into early Saturday morning, and who may have seen or heard anything out of the ordinary is encouraged to contact Maine State Police.
