For a variety of reasons, like how rural our state is and the prevalence of security cameras, Maine murders are often solved quickly.

Typically, law enforcement has a pretty good idea who committed the crime almost as soon as they find the body.

While it is rare, we do occasionally have unsolved murder cases in Maine.

Sadly, it appears the killing of a mother and daughter in Farmington may be one of those cases.

According to an article on the WGME website, on December 27th, 2023, police got a call about a couple of bodies being found at the Pawsitive Dog Kennel in Farmington.  The bodies were later positively identified as being 76-year-old Jean Robinson, and her daughter, 53-year-old Allison Cumming of Farmington.

In early January 2024, their deaths were ruled homicides by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Since then, police have not provided any additional updates on the case's progress. If any arrests have been made in the case, police have yet to announce them.

The article states that reporters have reached out to the police about the case, but have heard nothing back.  Of course, it is important to note that, as we are in the middle of the Holiday season, many people are on PTO.  Maybe there will be a response after the new year.
