Proposing to Kelsea Ballerini Is Morgan Evans’ New Christmas Tradition
Christmas Day has become Groundhog Day for Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans, as the young couple have decided to make Evans' proposal to Ballerini on Christmas a new holiday tradition.
The up-and-coming singer got down on one knee while Ballerini was making pancakes Christmas morning in 2016 at her childhood home in Knoxville, Tenn., and the two plan to relive the special moment year after year.
"Last Christmas I got engaged. So me and him are making the tradition that every Christmas morning, I’m going to make pancakes, and he’s going to propose,” Ballerini tells Sounds Like Nashville about the adorable tradition she and her now-husband are beginning in their new life together.
The young couple tied the knot in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Dec. 2 in a beachfront wedding in front of 100 friends and family. They wrote their own vows for one another, with Evans playing a piece of a song he wrote for Ballerini titled "Dance With Me" and exchanged rings engraved with personalized messages. They kicked off the wedding with a shot of tequila. The two met in March of 2016 when they co-hosted an awards show together in his native Australia.
“Kelsea’s vows were, as you would expect, poetic, sweet — like, mind-blowingly good. Our officiant was like, ‘Hey, Morgan, beat that!' I said mine, and I was going to finish with a few lines of the first song I wrote for her [‘Dance with Me’]. I got halfway through them, and she started to lose it, then I started to lose it — so I ended up having to cut it a little bit short!” Evans tells People.
The couple are set for an official honeymoon in Bora Bora in 2018.
