About Kenny Chesney
According to a posting on the Country Music Hall of Fame website, Kenny Chesney played a huge role in country music’s jump from the 1990s into the new millennium. He mixed traditional country with his own wide-ranging musical tastes, creating a sound that was both popular with fans and influential to the artists who followed. His formula wasn’t exactly complicated: work hard, find great songs, and put on one heck of a concert. But Chesney made it look easy.
Born March 26, 1968, Kenneth Arnold Chesney grew up in the small East Tennessee town of Luttrell, which also happens to be the hometown of country legend Chet Atkins. As a kid, Chesney was mostly a music fan, not someone dreaming about becoming a star. Like a lot of kids his age, he spent more time playing sports.

While attending Gibbs High School in Corryton, Tennessee, Chesney played both football and baseball. In fact, becoming a singer wasn’t even on his radar. Looking back in a 1999 interview with Country Music magazine, Chesney said he never dreamed of singing as a kid and had never really given it any thought.
