After nearly 40 years in the NBA Boston Celtics Hall of Famer Larry Bird has decided to retire.

He has been Indiana Pacers president of basketball operations but is turning things over to Kevin Pritchard. Bird will not be out of basketball completely, he’ll stay in the Pacers organization as a consultant and scout.

Bird is from French Lick, Indiana, coached the Pacers for three years but walked away after a heart ailment. Bird now 60 years old jokes on nba.com he may come back when he turns 70 but for right now his wife is happy since she has been on his basketball run since they were sophomores in college.
