Police Make Arrest in the 2024 Central Maine Homicide of a Teenager
After a nearly year long investigation, police have made an arrest in the case of a slain teenager.
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, on July 14th, 2024, police responded to the area near 77 Rideout Avenue in Lewiston. When they arrived they found 17-year-old Sahal Muridi, of Lewiston, deceased.
The press release goes on to explain:
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South was requested, and an investigation was commenced into Muridi’s death. The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta determined Muridi’s cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head and neck, and the manner of death was homicide.
Over the course of the lengthy investigation, law enforcement determined that that 23-year-old Nasib Aden, also of Lewiston, was responsible for the crime.
On May 6, 2025, a Grand Jury in Androscoggin County indicted Aden on a murder charge. Things moved quickly from there. Just after sunrise on Wednesday, June 11, around 7 AM, members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force tracked Aden down and arrested him in Fridley, Minnesota—a suburb just outside Minneapolis.
A few days later, officials with the Maine Department of Corrections brought him back to the Pine Tree State. Once back in Maine, Aden appeared in Androscoggin Superior Court for his arraignment. He entered a plea of not guilty.
As of now, he’s being held at the Androscoggin County Jail as the case moves forward.
