5 Maine Teens Charged With Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Murder
Five teenagers are facing serious charges after Lewiston Police say a late-night shooting targeted an apartment on Pierce Street over the weekend.
According to an article on the WGME website, police officers were called to the area of 125 Pierce Street just before 11 PM. Saturday for reports of gunfire. When they arrived, investigators found several shell casings behind an apartment building and multiple bullet holes that had entered a nearby apartment.
Police say the people believed to be the intended targets told officers they had been warned earlier in the evening that they could be targeted.
Following an investigation, Lewiston Police charged five juveniles in what they describe as a retaliatory shooting. Those charged include two 16-year-old boys, two 15-year-old boys, and a 14-year-old boy. Because all of the suspects are minors, their names have not been released.
Each of the five teens has been charged with criminal conspiracy to commit murder. Police say all five were taken to the Long Creek Youth Development Center.
No injuries were reported in the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
*NOTE - All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law
