Nathan Bibeau of Lewiston and his family were throwing a birthday party for their two year old son. It was time to blow out on the candles on the cake and cut the cake for all to enjoy. To the horror of Nathan, a knife was found in the store-bought cake. The Elmo birthday cake was purchased at Walmart in Auburn. Bibeau immediately called the store to inform them of what happened. Walmart apologized and offered a refund. A Walmart corporate spokeswoman told the AP, 'the knife incident should not have happened', and that the retailer was eliminating the use of the knives at store bakeries.

Bibeau is considering legal action.
