This 10-Mile-Long Maine Yard Sale Must Be Experienced
These days, we have all become really comfortable with the idea that we can get nearly anything we want from a big box store. Most of the state's population lives less than a half-hour from a Walmart, Target, or similar store.
In the rare instance that these stores don't have something you want, you can always order the idea online. In most cases, what you order from Amazon will arrive on your steps within a few days.
Even though it is really convenient to shop at a local department store or order from online, there is something cool about shopping at a yard sale, flea market, or garage sale. It's an adventure, because you never know what bargain you are going to find.
You could end up getting a great deal on antique furniture, toys from your childhood, old video game systems, Grandma's china, and more.
On more than one occasion, I have found games that I used to have as a kid that I am sure my own kids would love to play. The same goes for CDs that I used to own as a kid, but lost years ago.
If yard sales are your thing, you need to check out what is probably the biggest yard sale in New England. We can't be sure, but there is a good chance that it is the biggest yard sale in the entire country!
According to the event's Facebook page, the 2024 Cornville 10 Mile Yard Sale will happen from May 17 through May 19. The sale will be open from 8 AM to 5 PM each day, rain or shine. The event typically runs along a 10-mile loop down Route 150 to Skowhegan and back up West River Road.
The event started in 1980s with just a few people participating, but grew immensely over time. Now, it doesn't just cover Cornville, but also encompasses Athens and Skowhegan.
Normally, Nelson's Candies on West Ridge Road in Cornville takes part in the event. No word on whether or not they'll be a part of this year's yard sale. You can always check out their website for updates on what they're up to.
The best way to stay on top of everything going on with the event is on their Facebook page.
