
Coastal Maine Woman Arrested & Charged With Arson
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, a 35-year-old woman from Coastal Maine has been arrested and charged with arson.
The press release explains that, on Tuesday afternoon, Rockport Police and Fire Departments responded to a fire at 327 West Street in Rockport. Shortly after they arrived on scene, first responders found evidence that several other fires had been started on the property. By the time police and firefighters arrived on the scene, those fires were no longer burning.
However, the single-family home on the property was a total loss.
The sole occupant of the home, 35-year-old Andrea Annis, had escaped the home without harm.
The press release goes on to say:
After an initial investigation Annis was arrested at the scene by investigators from the Office of State Fire Marshal, with assistance from the Rockport Police Department. She faces multiple charges, including several counts of Arson, Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention, Burning Prohibited Materials, and Burning Without a Permit. Following her arrest, Annis was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Once discharged, she will be taken to the Knox County Jail.
As the investigation continues, further details are not being released.
