
Maine Border Patrol Agents Make Record Number of Arrests in April 2025
Even though we have heard a lot about United States border security over the last few decades, the topic's discussion has really ramped up since the 2020 presidential election.
President Trump's first administration was tough on border security. When the COVID-19 crisis was declared a pandemic, security was ramped up even further. When President Biden took office in January of 2021, border security was loosened significantly. One of the first things President Trump did when he took office for his second term was to re-strengthen border security.

Given President Trump's strict border policies, it should not come as a surprise that Border Patrol agents in Maine saw a record number of illegal immigrants arrested in April of 2025.
According to an article on the WABI website, 113 people, from 16 different countries, were arrested for being in the United States illegally in April.

Authorities claim that the rise in arrests is not due to more individuals illegally crossing the Maine border, but rather a result of increased Border Patrol enforcement across the state.
