Maine Brewery Named Brewer Of The Year At American Beer Festival
Once again, it has been proven that Maine is a state loaded with very talented brewers and breweries.
According to the KJ, Allagash Brewing Company took home three medals at last weekend's American Beer Festival. One of those medals was the award for "Brewer of The Year".
The Portland-based brewery also took a gold medal for Allagash Tripel in the Belgian-style Abbey Ale category and a silver medal for Allagash White in the Belgian Witbier category.
The company has won a total of eight awards over the last four years of the festival.
The article goes on to explain that, in addition to awards won at the American Beer Festival, the brewery has won awards on the international stage. The brewery's Allagash White has won awards at the World Beer Cup and Euro Beer Star Awards.
Even though no other Maine breweries took an award this time, Hobb's Tavern in Ossipee, New Hampshire took an award for their Sugar Moon wood aged beer.
The Great American Beer Festival, which took place in Denver between last Thursday and last Saturday, attracted about 2,000 different breweries from across the country. More than just a beer brewing competition, it is a three day long party. There's food, live music, karaoke, costume contests and more.
