Fire at Maine Church Was Deliberately Set

According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, the Maine Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating an arson fire at the Dennysville Edmunds Congregational Church in Dennysville.

Officials say the fire was reported shortly before 8:00 AM on Monday, July 20, at the church located at 17 King Street. The fire started near the rear of the building.

Firefighters from the Dennysville Fire Department responded quickly and were able to extinguish the flames before they spread further. As a result, damage was largely limited to the exterior of the church.

No one was inside the building when the fire started, and no injuries were reported.

Investigators with the Office of the State Fire Marshal initially began working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. As the investigation progressed, officials determined the fire had been intentionally set and have now classified it as arson.

The investigation remains active, and authorities have not released any additional information at this time. Anyone with information about the fire is encouraged to contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
