Maine Cornfield Maze Named The Best In The United States
One of the greatest things about the State of Maine is all the family-friendly activities we have to offer. Beaches, amusement parks, hiking trails, and more. We even have our fair share of cornfield mazes.
In fact, according to one well known publication, Maine is home to the best cornfield maze in the country.
According to an original article on Newsbreak, after several weeks of voting for the best maze, out of the top 10 in the country, the winner of the honor was announced on Friday. After all was said and done, the maze at Treworgy Family Orchards in Levant has been named the best in the United States by USA Today!
This marks the fifth time the attraction was nominated for best in the country. Other mazes in the top 10 include Devine's Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Cherry Crest Adventure Farm in Pennsylvania, Davis Mega Maze in Sterling, Massachusetts, Great Vermont Corn Maze in Danville, Vermont, and Maze Craze in Ohio. The orchard has been doing a maze since the fall of 2001. This year's maze has a Winnie The Pooh theme. According to their website, the 4 acre maze is made up of about 60,000 corn plants.
About the design of the maze, the website says, in part:
Each year’s maze begins with an idea for a design, and our whole family participates. Once we have a theme, it’s time to plant. We plant the cornfield, carve out the pathways, create maps, and set up the “stations” with riddles. About 60,000 corn plants make up each 4-acre maze, and most of the stalks grow up to 10 feet tall. The extra height makes the maze more challenging and fun!
