Coastal Maine Man Accused of Nearly Strangling Woman to Death
A Waldoboro man is in serious trouble after he allegedly assaulted a woman several times.
According to an article in the Midcoast Villager, 32-year-old Graham M. Deleo was arrested at the Maine Mall in South Portland last week for assaulting a woman.
At some point after the Maine Mall incident, the victim contacted police to tell them that Deleo had violated a protection order. At that time, she also told them about previous incidents where he had allegedly assaulted her.
One of those alleged incidents reportedly happened on Valentine's Day. She reportedly told police that, because she did not get him a gift, he held her down on the bed, pulling her hair and strangling her until she passed out. She told police that, when she regained consciousness, Deleo seemed surprised and was apologetic.
In previous incidents, he reportedly punched her in the stomach, bit her, and lifted her off the ground by grabbing her by the neck.
As evidence, the woman reportedly provided images of her injuries and text conversations between herself and Deleo.
He currently faces charges of kidnapping, two counts of domestic violence aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence assault, two counts of domestic violence criminal threatening, two counts of criminal mischief, domestic violence stalking, violating a protective order, and two counts of violating a condition of release.
He is due back in court on June 2nd.
