
Maine Family Dies In Early Thursday Morning Fire
A mother, father, and teenage daughter are dead following an early Thursday morning fire in the Northern Maine town of Fort Fairfield.
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, at about 2 AM on Thursday (November 2nd) the regional communications center in Houlton was made aware of a residential fire in Fort Fairfield.
The Fort Fairfield Fire Department quickly arrived on scene and battled the blaze. Shortly after they arrived, it became clear that there were fatalities in the fire. The three deceased are believed to be 47-year-old Erik Elmer, 39-year-old Jessica Elmer and 17-year-old Rose Elmer. They are a father, mother, and daughter.
A juvenile who was in the house at the time of the fire did survive. That person was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where positive identification will be made.
The press release goes on to say:
The fire is currently under investigation and there is no indication of foul play. There were no working smoke detectors in the home.
