Maine Family Finally Recovers The Body Of Loved One
Dealing with the death of a loved one is never easy, but most of us cannot imagine what one Lewiston family has been through.
According to WMTW and our own conversations with family members, Jeanne Kirkpatrick passed away on March 16th. Her family began working Lewiston's Affordable Cremation Solutions to handle her cremation and funeral plans.
After the company picked up Kirkpatrick's remains, it became impossible to get a hold of anyone from the company. Her grandson visited the business only to find that it was closed. When they called the company, the phone either rang without being answered or, when someone did answer, they were directed to contact the business's lawyer. They were reportedly told that funeral home's owner was having "mental health problems" and was not currently working.
Adding to their trouble, the funeral home had allegedly never filed a death certificate. Because of that, it was incredibly difficult for them to work with a new funeral home.
Apparently, the Lewiston Police Department has been contacted by several parties who reported complaints about Affordable Cremation Solutions.
WMTW was able to the funeral home's owner on the phone, but he referred the reporters to his attorney.
Anyone having issues with the funeral home should contact the Maine Attorney General office for help.
Fortunately, Kirkpatrick's family was able to recover her body and transfer it to another funeral home. Our hearts go out to Jeanne Kirkpatrick's family. Hopefully, they can now move on.
