Mexico, Maine, House Fire Victim Identified
Officials have released the identity of the person found deceased at the scene of a September 26th, 2024, house fire in Mexico, Maine.
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, the deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Lacey Tidswell, of Mexico, Maine.
At about 7 AM on September 26th, Oxford County Dispatch received a report of a fire at 5 Tucker Street in Mexico.
The press release goes on to explain:
The Mexico Fire Department and several area fire departments responded to the scene. First responders observed a fire burning, primarily from the front porch area. Firefighters were able to rescue one female from the residence using a ladder. She was not injured. Once the fire was extinguished firefighters on scene discovered a deceased female inside the residence.
Tidswell's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. An autopsy was performed to confirm her identity and to determine the cause and manner of death.

As the investigation is ongoing, authorities have chosen not to release the manner and cause of death. However, it does not appear there is a danger to the public.
