Much like a weak cold front that gives you a little bit of relief from the hot, humid summer weather, gas prices took a brief break from large price increases with a drop  this week. According to the price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com, the average gallon of gas in Maine dropped about 2 cents this week to $3.77.Maine's gas prices are 12 cents higher than the national average of $3.65 a gallon. Gas prices in Maine are 24 cents higher than just one month ago.

The lowest gas prices in Maine were found at a few stations in Belfast at $3.58 a gallon.
