According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, a Maine man has been arrested and indicted for the murder of his girlfriend.

34 year old Brandon Libby has been indicted for the murder of 29 year old Amanda Brown, with whom he reportedly had a relationship.

On June 16th, 2021, law enforcement officers, who were in the process of investigating the report of an assault, visited a residence on Dow Road in Standish.  When they arrived on the scene, they found the body of Amanda Brown.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy which determined the cause of death was a gunshot and the manner was a homicide.

Following a several months long investigation, police arrested Brandon Libby, of Standish, in Hollis.  He was taken into custody without incident.  The Maine State Police were helped by the Crisis Negotiation Team and the US Marshal’s Maine Violent Offender Task Force.

The press release goes on to say:

Libby was picked up on a warrant out of Cumberland County charging him with murder resulting from a Grand Jury indictment on Thursday.  This indictment was related to the death of Amanda Brown in Standish from June of this year.  Brandon and Amanda were domestic partners.  Since June the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South has received information from the Maine Office of Chief Medical Examiner as well as the Maine State Police Crime Laboratory which was presented to the Grand Jury and led to the charges.

At this time, there is no word on when Libby will appear in court.
