According to News Center Maine, a 25-year-old man from Caribou is dead following a Friday night snowmobile crash.

Authorities say Emmanuel Bouchard was riding with a group of about a dozen other snowmobilers on Friday night head south on Maine ITS 105 in Stockholm. The group was headed to Caribou and when they arrived there they realized that Bouchard was no longer with the group.

Several of the riders turned around and went back to look for him as another unrelated group came upon the accident in Stockholm and called 911. The Maine Warden Service said that Bouchard appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed when his 2021 Polaris snowmobile veered off the right hand side of the trail striking several trees and falling sown a steep embankment.

Authorities confirmed that Bouchard was wearing a helmet and that alcohol did not seem to be a factor in the incident. Among the responding agencies were the Maine Warden Service, State Police and Caribou Fire Department.
