It was a week ago today (Tuesday) when police in the town of Topsham, Maine were called to an area apartment complex for reports of a woman that was stabbed.

When they arrived on the scene of the complex, first responders say they found 64-year-old, Christine Miller, deceased from multiple stab wounds inside her apartment. Witnesses told responding officers that they had seen 71-year-old, Robert McClure, a neighbor of Miller's, leaving her apartment with a knife.

The property manager at the complex also told police that they believed Miller and McClure were, at least at one point, a couple. However, McClure had reportedly been making statements about witches and had been threatening to 'burn the building down'.

Robert McClure was arrested and charged with Miller's murder. Now, a week later, we're learning from court documents that McClure was convinced that Miller was a real witch. McClure, during his arrest, allegedly told police that there had been witches and demons living in the apartment complex and that he thought Miller was one of them.

Those same court documents also reveal that McClure told police that 'she needed to die'. He was also quoted in court saying 'I did stab that lady'.

This is a developing story and we will continue to keep it updated as more information is made available from the investigation and court documents.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
