WGME Meteorologist Says Maine Could See a Tornado Today
It looks like our gorgeous pattern of sun, crisp air and the late summer breeze is about to come to an end. According to WGME Meteorologist, Matt Hoenig, things could get a little crazy out there tomorrow.
Hoenig says that an overnight warm front will bring clouds and showers to most of Maine. Those showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue through the morning and eventually taper off revealing sunshine, warm air and oodles of humidity. It's after the sun comes out that the big storms become a threat.
With all the humidity in the air and the passing warm front, the perfect recipe for big storms reveals itself. WGME says that this combination will 'touch off' several showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon.
Matt Hoenig says that the threat of these storms is from 1-7 PM on Wednesday and can potentially include downpours, damaging winds and hail. He goes on to say that even a tornado can't be ruled out during tomorrow's weather.
