
Maine Woman Accused of Killing Her Sister
On April 15th, we received word that the Maine State Police were in the process of investigating the death of a woman at a home in the town of Hartland.
Police had been called to a home on Canaan Road in Hartland on the evening of April 12th. At the scene, they discovered the body of an elderly woman.
The woman was later identified as 78-year-old Velma Withee, of Hartland. An autopsy determined that her cause of death was gunshot wounds and that her manner of death was homicide.
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, there has now been an arrest in the case.
The press release explains that 69-year-old Bonnie Coombs, of Garland, has been arrested in connection with the death of Withee. The press release states that Coombs is Withee's sister.
Today's press release goes on to say:
Bonnie Coombs was transported to the Somerset County Jail, where she is currently being held without bail. This investigation remains active and ongoing. No additional details are being released at this time.
