A drug investigation in southern Maine has led to the arrest of a New York man facing multiple serious charges.

According to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, 51-year-old Raymond H. Teran of the Bronx was taken into custody Friday following an investigation into suspected cocaine trafficking. Teran is now charged with aggravated trafficking of cocaine, trafficking of cocaine base, illegal importation of drugs, and falsifying physical evidence.

Authorities say the investigation began on March 27, 2026, when MDEA’s Cumberland District Task Force, working alongside the South Portland Police Department, started looking into reports of cocaine being transported into Maine from out of state.

That investigation eventually led agents to an Airbnb on Emery Street in Portland, where Teran was seen coming and going. After gathering enough information, officials obtained a search warrant for the property.

During the search, agents seized more than 500 grams of cocaine, about 13 grams of crack cocaine, and over $38,000 in suspected drug money. Officials estimate the street value of the drugs at around $22,000.

Teran was taken to the Cumberland County Jail and is being held on $50,000 cash bail. More charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
