According to an article on the WABI website, a man is dead following a Wednesday police standoff in Machias.

Police responded to a complaint about an our of control man making threats to the staff at Sunrise Residence on Lyon Street in Machias.  The man was identified as 50-year-old Devon Andrews, of Machias.  Police located him and began speaking with him in an attempt to defuse the situation.

Andrews reportedly locked himself in an apartment and told police that he had five loaded firearms.

A few minutes later, he reportedly stopped talking to police.

The building was evacuated.

About eight hours later, the Maine State Police Tactical Team entered the apartment, where they found Andrews had died by his own hand.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
