A man from Western Maine was injured in a Thursday evening "officer involved shooting".

According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public safety, just before 11 on Thursday evening (October 13th), members of the Mexico and Rumford police departments responded to a domestic violence call at a home on Roxbury Road in Mexico.

Once on scene, officers confronted an armed man.

Shots were fired by Mexico Police Department Officer Dustin Broughton.

22 year old Daniel Tibbets, of Mexico, was taken to the hospital in Rumford with gunshot wounds.  He was later transferred to Maine Med in Portland.  He is expected to survive his wounds.

The press release goes on to say:

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Attorney General’s Office with is standard procedure in Maine for any officer involved shootings.
