This Saturday at the Maine State Museum in Augusta it’s the kick off of the 100th anniversary of Mainers Involvement in World War 1.

‘Over There and Down Home: World War 1 and Maine’ will run from 11 to 5 November 5th at the Maine State Cultural Building.

It’s a free pop-up museum with memories, photographs, documents and artifacts from 1914 to 1918. It will show how the war impacted Mainers at home and abroad and how events and experiences of the war brought on changes to the state of Maine and the world.

At centralmaine.com they tell us in addition to objects, photographs and documents brought in by others, the pop-up museum will feature World War I-related collections from the Maine State Museum, Maine State Library, Maine State Archives, and Maine Military Historical Society.
