
Maine Student Hit By Bus Sustains Life-Threatening Injuries
A student from the Rockland area is fighting for their life following a tragic incident that happened on Friday afternoon.
According to a post on the WMTW website, a student from the RSU 13 school district was hit by a school bus at the intersection of Broadway and Eliza Steele Drive. The incident happened just before 2:30 PM.
The student was taken to the hospital with injuries that police say were life threatening. From there, the student was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland for further treatment.
The identity of the student has not been released.
Right now the crash is still under investigation. The Rockland Police Department reportedly had help from the Maine State Police with the reconstruction of the crash. Rockland police and RSU 13 say they are not ready to share anything more at this time.

In a statement, RSU 13 said the safety and well being of their students is always the top priority. They added that they are working closely with police and emergency crews as the investigation continues.
RSU 13 serves students in the towns of Rockland, South Thomaston, Thomaston, Owls Head and Cushing. Schools in the district include Oceanside High School in Rockland, Oceanside Middle School in Thomaston, Ash Point Community School in Owls Head, Cushing Community School, South School in Rockland and Thomaston Grammar School.
