With drug crimes on the rise, not just around the country but here in Maine, it is becoming even more difficult for federal and local law enforcement officials to keep up with it all. It seems like every time we turn around, there is another drug bust in Maine to report on. Out Maine police and drug enforcement officials are working overtime and doing a great job to keep this awful stuff off of our streets.

According to WGME 13, a Maine woman who was already on probation for other drug-related offenses has been arrested again- this time on more serious charges. The news station is reporting that officials searched a Brownville, Maine home on Thursday.

During the search, police say they were able to seize a firearm, fentanyl, methamphetamines, some stolen property and $2,200 in what they believe are proceeds from drug sales.

After the discovery of drugs, weapons, stolen property and cash, deputies with the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Office too 35-year-old, Krystin Mathewson, into custody. Mathewson was subsequently charges with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, theft and unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs.

WGME 13 is reporting that Krystin Mathewson is currently being held in custody at the Piscataquis County Jail.

This is a developing story and we will continue to keep this updated as more information becomes available to us either from WGME 13 or from the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Office.
