According to the Sun Journal, a Maine woman was arrested on Sunday after she was reportedly clocked at 100 miles per hour on a busy Maine road.

Police say a Bridgton woman was driving a Ford F-150 on Route 302 in Windham. Police then attempted to stop the woman, though she refused to pull over, continuing to drive the truck a high rates of speed through the heavily congested lakes region.

Officials tell the Sun Journal that the initial incident began on Sunday afternoon at about 2:30. It all started when another driver notified police about the woman driving her truck recklessly through town.

Reports indicate that the truck was striking other cars and driving very erratically as it went down the road. Additionally, it was reported from witnesses that the truck was driving in and out of the breakdown lane and even between other cars on the road.

A while later, the truck was again spotted on the Naples Causeway where it was once again speeding and passing other vehicles recklessly. A short time later, the driver pulled over voluntarily.

It was at that time that 62-year-old Kristen Barr, of Bridgton, was taken into custody for failure to stop for a law enforcement officer The Sun Journal says the woman was also charged with driving to endanger, criminal speed, attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, and refusing to take an OUI test.

In a statement to the media, Capt. Donald Foss of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said in part,

“The traffic volume in the Sebago Lake area on a Sunday afternoon, particularly during the summer months, coupled with the driver’s reckless operation created a very dangerous situation. Deputies took several measure to reduce the risks created by this dangerous driver and are grateful that this incident did not result in tragedy.”
