Maple Syrup Spill in Vermont
The Maple Syrup industry in Maine brings in more than $27 million to the Maine economy; in fact it brings a lot of money to the Northeast, including Vermont.
Recently there was maple syrup spill on I-91 in the upper reaches of Vermont. It happened during afternoon traffic at 4:20 and luckily it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. The spill occurred near the Canadian border toward the city if Newport.
It was a 42 gallon drum of syrup that fell loose from a pickup truck which was only part of the drivers haul. The fire department was called to clean-up the spill and it only took about 20 minutes.
As I said earlier, it could have been worse.
