One of the coolest (literally) events to come to the Pine Tree State in recent years is Carnaval Maine.

The event, now in its third year, will return to Portland in early March 2023.

Almost like a winter version of the now defunct Old Port Festival, the weeklong event includes activities for kids and adults.  In addition to the kids zone, there will be lots of comedy performances, theater, and live music.

Last year's headliner was Scotty McCreery.  And, once again proving that country is king in Maine, two nationally recognized acts will headline the 2023 edition of the event.

On Friday, March 10th, Parmalee will take the main stage.

Originally from Parmele, North Carolina, the group is known for songs like "Take My Name"

Local favorite Joseph Gallant will open for them.

For fans of new country, the fun continues the next night with two more amazing acts.

According to WMTW, Michael Ray, known for songs like "Whiskey and Rain", will headline the Snow Stage on Saturday, March 11th. Local favorites 12/OCwho also performed at Carnaval last year, will open for Michael Ray.

Originally from Florida, Michael Ray was inspired by his grandfather to pursue a career in music.  After he graduated from high school, he formed a band and started performing and recording music  He even managed to get some of his songs played on a local country station.

Later, he went on to compete on the CW TV show The Next: Fame Is AT Your Doorstep.  He won an Atlantic Records recording contract on the show.

Based in the Portland area, 12/OC is one of the best country bands to come out of Maine in the last few decades.  They are great performers and put on an amazing live show.

The event is put on by Shamrock Sports and Entertainment.  Get more details and snag tickets HERE
