Just a few decades ago going to the movies was a common form of entertainment for the majority of Americans.

It was the go-to activity for a date night, a night out with friends, or a reward for the kids.  For just a few dollars you could see the latest movies at the theater months before they would be available for rent on VHS or DVD.

Of course, this was years before anyone had ever even thought that we could stream movies and TV shows on the internet.

These days, however, going to the movies has become much rarer.  This is for a number of reasons.

These reasons include the fact that, for several years, we were not getting many of those ‘must see’ movies that everyone wanted to see on opening weekend.  On top of that, many of the big movies hit streaming services shortly after (if not before) they were released in theaters.  Then, of course, there is the cost of going to see a movie in the theater.  The prices of tickets have steadily climbed over the last few decades.  And, when you add in the price of drinks and snacks, going to the movies has become an extremely expensive form of entertainment.

How Much Do Movie Tickets Cost Here in Maine?

According to the study, the average price of a movie ticket in Maine is $17.19!  Keep in mind that this is the average.  So, some places (Portland) are going to be more expensive than other places (Houlton).  Additionally, some theaters run specials on certain nights and weekend afternoons.  Plus, there are those college-targeting theaters that always have dirt cheap tickets.

How Much Do Movie Tickets Cost in New Hampshire?

One of the most expensive places to see a movie, the average price for a ticket in the Granite State is $19.24.

What is the Average Price For a Movie Ticket in Massachusetts?

Believe it or not, the price of movie tickets in Massachusetts are not as expensive as some other places in New England.  The average price for a ticket is $16.99.

Where Are the Cheapest & Most Expensive Tickets in United States?
