M&M's Ice Cream Parlor At Skowhegan State Fair Serves Moxie Floats

One of the great things about living in Maine is the number of fairs that we have during the spring, summer, and fall.

There are literally dozens of agricultural fairs held in Maine each year. Additionally, there are close to a dozen great festivals held in Maine each year.

While these fairs and festivals all feature exciting events, one of the most notable things about them is the variety of food offerings. More than just fresh-cut fries and massive sausages, fairs in the 2020s offer guests everything from smoked turkey legs, to brisket sandwiches, to lo mein. And, of course, there are all the sweet treats.

Cotton candy, candied apples, caramel apples, funnel cakes, deep-fried Oreos, and ice cream are just a few of the sweets you'll find at the fair. That's just on the midway, too! When you visit the vendor booths you are likely to find more unique offerings.

But, what is the most "Maine" treat you can find at a Maine agricultural fair? You probably said "whoopie pie", right? We are pretty sure we found something even more "Maine".

The Most "Maine" Treat at the Fair

M&M's Ice Cream Parlor sits in a permanent structure (not a trailer or tent) on the edge of the Midway at the Skowhegan State Fair. The walkway leading to the ordering window is lined with picnic tables. Perfect, if you are looking for a spot to sit while you actually enjoy your ice cream, float, or shake.

One of the things really going for this place is how affordable it is. We had two dishes of ice cream (mint chocolate chip) and a BIG peanut butter shakes and the total bill was only $15. Probably the cheapest ice cream on the fairgrounds.

Plus, they serve what we believe is the most "Maine" treats at any Maine fair.

They have Moxie floats and Moxie shakes! Can you think of anything more Maine than having the official Maine soda incorporated into your floats and shakes? Yeah, we didn't think so!
