Everything You Need to Know About the 2025 Old Hallowell Day Festival
One of the many things that New Englanders do really well is throw a community festival.
Some of our more notable festivals, like the Lobster Festival in Rockland, have been around for generations.
One of the most beloved festivals in Central Maine is Old Hallowell Day.
Except 2020 and 2021, when the event was cancelled over concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival has lit up the City of Hallowell each July since 1968.
Old Hallowell Day 2025
This year's Old Hallowell Day will take place on Saturday, July 19th.
There's going to be a breakfast at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall, which will include pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit, coffee, and more. That breakfast will run from 7 to 9:30 a.m.
The fun gets kicked off at 7 a.m. with the Old Hallowell Day Hills & Thrills Bike Ride. The scenic ride takes cyclists on a 25-mile trip through Hallowell and the surrounding area.
The annual 5K starts at 7:30.
There will be a Whoopie Pie Bake-Off at Burano's starting at 8 a.m.
At 10:45, Vicki's School of Dance will be performing at the Boat Landing.
At Noon, Travis Humphry will be performing at the City Bandstand.
There will be a cornhole tournament at 1 p.m. at Vaughn Field.
The day of fun concludes with a massive fireworks display launched over the Kennebec River. The fireworks are scheduled to start at 9 o'clock. The best viewing will be from Granite City Park. But, space is limited, so find a spot early.
The fireworks don't really mark the end of the day, for the 21+ crowd, at least. Hallowell is home to some of the state's best party bars, so it should not be hard to find a place to listen to live music and dance to a DJ. Check out the Facebook pages of the local bars for more information on what they have going on.
The above is only a sample of all the events going on that day.
