One of Central Maine’s Premier ‘Cut Your Own’ Tree Farms Opens Friday

Can you believe it is already that time of the year where we're talking about Christmas trees?

Now I know some of you people get the holiday bug a little early and end up putting the tree up right after the Fourth of July fireworks have ended.

But, for the rest of us, this is when we start thinking about those gorgeous Balsam Firs.

Over the years, I've gotten my tree from a number of different places. From beautiful local farms to the old roadside tree at Cumby's. However, since our middle son, Gavin, was born, we have been doing a new tradition.

Each year since we have been getting our tree from Ben & Molly's in South China, Maine.

Now believe me, there are lots of wonderful tree farms here in Central Maine that all offer their unique twist on the fun, but we have found our 'Christmas tree' home at Ben & Molly's.

Located on the Hanson Road in South China, Ben & Molly's is family-owned and features hundreds of the most beautiful trees I've ever seen. When you get there, you check in with one of the friendly faces, they give you a saw and a 'drag tarp' and send you and your family on your way.

After you have selected, cut and dragged your tree back to the parking area, they'll net it up and load it for you while you go inside and grab some hot cocoa and cookies for the littles (and the bigs!)

So if you have a local tree farm that you love to support year after year, keep doing that! But, if your family is looking for a special place to snag the perfect tree for your living room, give Ben & Molly's a try.
