Parts Of Maine & New Hampshire Could See Severe Storms Today
It looks like we could see some really nasty weather roll through parts of New England this afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, much after the afternoon is going to be alright. Cooler than it has been, and somewhat cloudy, but not too bad.
The crazy weather will kick in after 5 PM.
In Central Maine, the greatest chance for nasty weather will be between 5 PM and 10 PM. Between 10 PM and 11 PM, there is a good chance we could see some scattered thunderstorms, but those won't be as severe as the evening storms. In total, the area could see close to an inch of rainfall.
In Southern Maine, and parts of New Hampshire, there is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect. That area could see severe thunderstorms throughout the afternoon. And, between 7 PM and 9 PM, there is a chance for scattered thunderstorms.
At least we are getting the nasty weather out of the way tonight. Much of New England will have a beautiful weekend. As of 2 PM on Friday, the forecast is calling for sunny skies and highs in the upper-70s.
So, what do you need to do to get ready? Not much, really? You may want to grab some snacks that don't need to be microwaved. You're probably also going to want to charge your phone and your tablet and you might want to download a few things from Netflix just in case the internet goes down.
Oh yeah, make sure your windows are rolled up and your sunroof, if you're lucky enough to have one, is closed.
