Patriots Player Arrested on Assault & Drug Charges
If you were watching the Patriots lose to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, you may have noticed that one of the Pats' captains was absent.
We now have a pretty good idea as to why Jabrill Peppers was not playing in the game.
According to a WMTW article, 29-year-old Peppers was arrested on Saturday morning at a residence in Braintree, Massachusetts.
The article explains that Braintree Police Department responded to a disturbance call early Saturday morning. The caller reportedly indicated that there was an altercation between two people at the home.
Peppers was arrested and charged with several crimes, including assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of a Class B Substance, according to WMTW. The news station noted it is believed that the Class B substance was cocaine.
*NOTE: All suspects are considered innocent until being found guilty in a court of law
The article goes on to say that the Patriots did acknowledge that there was an incident but did not comment on the situation.
According to Peppers' bio on the New England Patriots website, the safety, who was born and raised in East Orange, New Jersey, attended the University of Michigan and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in 2017. He spent two years with the Giants and has been with the Patriots since 2022. In July 2024, Peppers signed a three-year, $30 million, contract with the Patriots.
