This weekend some 33 pilots will have the opportunity to experience what Charles Lindbergh did ninety years ago when they land their planes on the 2,000-foot stretch of sand beach in Old Orchard Beach. Wings 4 Wishes is an organization that benefits the Make a Wish Foundation.

On July 24, 1927, Charles Lindbergh made an emergency landing on Old Orchard Beach due to fog shrouding the airport in Portland. To commemorate this event, pilots will be given a chance to recreate this historic event and money raised from their entry fees will go to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Such an event takes months of planning and organizing for a person with years of vast experience which makes the fact that this was organized by Charles Walker III, a 15-year old student at Old Orchard Beach High School even more amazing. Chase, as he known to his friends, is a member of many student organizations including, Interact Club which is a part of the Rotary Club. Chase is also the student body president for the Class of 2020 at Old Orchard Beach High School.

In addition to organizing the pilots and planes and entertainment, Chase also had to get approval for the event from the Town of Old Orchard Beach and the FAA.
