Police Chase in Maine Leads to Suspects Family Attacking Police

This is the second day in a row we've reported on a strange pursuit in Maine that had an odd ending. Sunday, in the town of Canaan, officers were responding to reports of a motorcycle crash on Hill Road. However, before officers could arrive, the suspect and his passenger got back on the bike and bolted.

According to WABI, Clarence Rider III, 41, led police on a chase down route 2 reaching speeds of more than 100 mph. That's when officers decided to pull back.

Later on police found him again on Wilson Road in Pittsfield and when they attempted to stop him he shoved the passenger off the motorcycle and took off down the road again leading police on another chase.

Later that day on Livingston Street, also in Pittsfield, police came across Rider's abandoned motorcycle. When police and a tow truck driver were attempting to tow away the abandoned motorcycle, four members of Rider's family showed up and began attacking authorities.

The family members involved were arrested including Clarence Rider Jr and Arlene Rider, both from Exeter. Also cuffed up were Casey Rider of Pittsfield and Stephanie Freeman of Skowhegan.

The family four-pack was charged with obstruction of Governmental administration.
