Police Incident Causes Major Traffic Issue on Maine / New Hampshire Border
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, the Piscataqua River Bridge, which connects Maine and New Hampshire, is completely closed to traffic.
The press release explains that traffic coming into Maine is completely blocked.
Traffic going from Maine into New Hampshire is being diverted to Exit 2 in Kittery.
Police have not released any details about the incident which has caused the closure of the bridge.
One of the busiest bridges in New England, the bridge sees an average of 78,000 vehicles per day. However, during the busiest part of summer tourist season, the bridge often sees as many as 130,000 vehicles per day.
