According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, police are investigating the death of a Maine 3 year old.
The press release explains that the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department got a call at about 7:37 AM on Christmas. First responders responded to a call for a 3 year old child who was not breathing at a residence on Route 1 in Edgecomb.
The child was transported to Miles Memorial Hospital. Sadly, the child was pronounced dead on arrival.
While police are not releasing any additional details about the child's passing, the Maine State Police are investigating the incident.
The press release goes on to say:
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit was contacted which is protocol in all child deaths in Maine. Detectives and Evidence Response Technicians responded and worked late into the night and all-day Monday. An autopsy was conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta on Monday. The cause and manner of death is being withheld at the request of the Attorney General’s Office.
Our thoughts go out to the family of the child in this difficult time.
