Portland Brewery Gets National “Brewery Of The Year” Award
Over the last few decades, Maine has really become known for its beer! These days, the state if a beer lover's paradise. Almost every decent-sized town has at least one brewery and, each year, there are brewfests held all over the state.
Because of Maine's focus on beer and brewing, the news that one Maine brewery has taken a brewery of the year award at a national brewery competition should not come as much of a surprise.
According to WMTW, Portland's Allagash Brewing Company won Brewery of The Year at the Great American Beer Festival.
Specifically, they won in the category for breweries that produce between 15,000 and 100,000 barrels of beer per year.
Thea team at Allagash Brewing also won silver medals for their Allagash White and Tripel brews.
Allagash was the only Maine brewery to win awards at this year's event.
In total, this year’s event awarded 290 medals to 265 breweries from across the United States.
