Portland, Maine is the Most Moved To City in New England
Since before we had cars, people have been moving around the country. Clearly, this has ramped-up with the development of planes, trains, and cars, but it has always been happening.
In most cases people make moves in order to chase opportunities. Most people would agree that cities offer far more opportunities than our nation's small towns do.
That's why, when I was younger, the people in my circle really wanted to move to Portland. This was true when I lived in Houlton, when I went to college in Bangor, and when I was working in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
That's always why the findings of this study does not surprise me that much.
