Just a few days after Jeopardy featured a question about Sugarloaf Mountain, it looks like Maine will get more representation on the long-running game show.

According to the KJ, Susan McMillan, one of the Augusta area newspaper's former reporters, will be featured on the show this Friday (March 26th).

Apparently, her Jeopardy journey started in 2019.  When Alex Trebek announced he was battling pancreatic cancer, her goal of competing on Jeopardy took on a sense of urgency.  Like tens of thousands of other people, she took the fifty question online test in April of 2020.  While the producers of the show never told her how many questions she got right, she is pretty sure it was somewhere in the upper-40s.

She got a call from the producers in December of 2020 and her episode was taped in February.  What did she did in the three months between getting the call and going to her taping?  She studied... A LOT!

McMillan, who now lives in Portland, is an Arabic translator and US Army reservist.  She left the newspaper in 2014 to enlist in the United States Army.  In the army, she got Arabic language training.

We thank her for her service and wish her the best of luck!

Catch Susan McMillan's episode of Jeopardy this Friday at 7:30 on WMTW.
